River to Rover Motorcycle Cruise 2014

The 2014 River to River Motorcycle Trip was a blast!
While there will not be a dedicated motorcycle cruise in 2015, motorcyclists are welcome to join our Retro Trip this September.

64 bikers from all over Iowa joined together in June 2014 to get a their motor running and head out on the highway. America’s longest and most historic  highway, historic US 6. Stretching 3,652 miles from Provincetown, MA to Long Beach CA, coast to coast, no other highway matches it. We were cruising theRiver to River Iowa portion of it, starting in Council Bluffs, with a Friday overnight in Newton, joining  Thunder Nites, and finishing in Davenport, at the Twentieth Anniversary Rally On The River event.

For out of towners, Council Bluffs had a bunch of activities happening on the 100 block of historic Broadway Avenue, including a Farmers Market, and drink specials at the ultra cool Barley’s Bar.

The Ride began Friday morning on the 100th block of Broadway Avenue after breakfast

The checkered flag was at 9 AM, and we took the original Broadway Ave/McPherson Ave alignment out of Council Bluffs, right through the scenic Loess Hills. Speaking of hills, US 6 on the west end of Iowa offers plenty of rolling hills and curves for your riding pleasure. We checked out Freedom Rock along with the Historic White Pole Road, with features Jesse James and Bonnie & Clyde robbery sites.  Lunch was at the KC Café in Casey, Iowa along the White Pole Road.

From there, we rolled through scenic Adel, Des Moines, Altoona, and Colfax before meeting up with Thunder Nites in Newton, where was between 1500 to 2000 bikes on hand, and some great rockin’ live music on the square from Insane Jane.

Saturday we headeded east through the Amana Colonies and a pit stop at Country Arts & Antiques. We finished the weekend at the QC Rally On The River motorcycle fest..
