Day one of the 2019 River to River has come to a close. We had a great day. Started out in Davenport dodging a few rain drops here and there. Special thanks to the Davenport Mayor Frank Klipsch for seeing us off and thank you to the Davenport PD for escorting us through town.
Our next stop was Durant. We were greated by members of the Chamber and they had swag for us. We meet at their local city park and were able to visit the local tri-county museum and spend a little time in the city.
We then continued our trek west through Wilton. Again special thank you to the Wilton Police department for helping us make the turn from 6 to 38\6. our lunch stop was again Tiffin this year. Great food was enjoyed by all at Throttle Down, Bryant’s and John Ice Cream. We then stopped in Marengo at the Iowa pioneer Heritage museum. This is an awesome museum and the ladies and gentlemen that work there knocked it out of the park. Beside all the neat and unique stuff always on display they had set up and table with a bunch of HWY 6 stuff.
We then left there headed to Colfax where we stopped for the night. We had a Taco Bar provided by Cocina Hernadaz and toured Colfax Historical Society’s museum. All in all we had a great day and we all hope that the weather will hold for tomorrow and we won’t get wet.
