First stop of the day. West Liberty, Iowa. Special thanks to the Rotary Club and West Liberty Heritage Foundation for rolling out the red carpet for us and including the sticker and delicious snacks.
Our lunch stop was Brooklyn, Iowa. Thank you for the hospitality and great food at The Classic. Great to be able to look around your city and see all the great preservation projects going on.
Our afternoon stop was in Kellogg, Iowa. Special thanks to the Kellogg Historical Society. They have 7 amazing buildings and some unique hidden gems.
Last stop of the day Beaverdale!!!! Beaverdale Fall Festival. Great party and an awesome place to end day 1. Hoping to plan a return trip next year and make it an even bigger party.
River to River Day 2 rolling out. First stop this morning is The Adel Historical Museum followed by an afternoon of exploring Historic US 6 Iowa and the White Pole Road. We will meet in Oakland at the Freedom Rock at 3pm. Then our final push into the Council Bluffs 100 block for their car show.

Another great time was had along Historic US 6 Iowa and obtained some tasty sweets from Drew’s Chocolate in Dexter Iowa.
This year’s River to River Retro Road Trip All the Way Photo. Overall, I think everyone had a great time. We got to meet some new faces and say hi to some old friends. Overall great turnout for the whole show, they filled all three blocks. Come Join us next year September 19-22, 2024.
The Sunday tradition of visiting the Original Freedom Rock south of Menlo returned this year. We had the honor and privilege to take Vietnam Veteran Duane Hodge there this afternoon. Duane shared several touching and meaningful stories of his time in The Army serving in Vietnam.
Duane, thank you for your service and for what you do with the Veterans’ organization that you are now a part of. It was an honor to meet you and thank you for sharing the stories.
